Ballooning experience over volcanic area
We would like to show you one of those amazing, unknown and non-touristic activities that are waiting for you in Catalonia – A balloon flight over a volcanic area in La Garrotxa nature reserve, one of the most interesting dormant volcanic areas of Europe.
The activity starts early in the morning, around 08am. A chauffeured car will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to this magnificent location, which is one hour and half away from Barcelona. Once you get there, you will have a coffee at the private facilities while you look at the balloon preparation and inflation.
The flight lasts around one or two hours, depending on the wind. You will discover the volcanoes at bird’s eyes view up to 1000m high, floating in the air, traveling in silence along the invisible pathways of the wind to the sounds of the nature. During the trip, cava toast and crackling local pancake is served. It is time to enjoy and take photos with a panoramic view of 360 around you.
After the balloon flight the “chase crew” comes to collect the passengers and takes them back to the private facilities where they will celebrate the experience with a typical Catalan countryside brunch. It includes roasted sausage and beans from Santa Pau, Catalan bread with tomato spread on top served with an assortment of cured sausages, wine and a glass of Ratafia, local liquor.
Flights can either be private or shared. Private flights are perfect for special celebrations, such as birthday celebration or a proposal of marriage. There is also available a “luxury balloon” with space for two people only. The basket is made of leather and has a table and two chairs inside were passengers can sit and have Champagne and some snacks.
This activity can be combined with a visit to Girona city or Figueres and Dali Museum.
